Australia qualified for the World CUP Germany 2006, after a dramatic night in front of 82,000 fans at Telstra stadium, Sydney. Marco Bresciano's goal cancelled uruguay's lead in the first leg. Mark Schwartzer superbly saved 2 penalties while John Aloisi slotted the winner coolly. this blog chronicles the adventure for the Socceroos on the quest for World Cup glory.

25 May 2006 Australia v Greece-first friendly win
The road to the World cup in Germany 2006 has begun. The Socceroos won 1-0 in front of a packed MCG crowd of 95,000. Skoko's stunning 15th minute volley sealed the win, which on balance saw Australia the superior team in the first half and honours even in the second half. Next up will be the Netherlands.
