20061010 A full strength Socceroos team beat Bahrain 2-0 and finish as seeded qualifier for the 2007 Asian Cup.(Bahrain sent its U23 team) A wonder strike by Mark Bresciano via a spectacular overhead kick in the 24th minute sealed the victory, after an 18th minute goal from John Aloisi. The Saturday before, the Socceroos drew 1-1 with Paraguay in Brisbane in a match that saw the retirement of four senior Socceroos: Zjelko Kalac, Tony Vidmar, Stan Lazaridis and Tony Popovic, who scored a dream goal. A good homecoming for the heroes of Germany 2006 World cup campaign.
